Sports and lifting injuries — practical recovery, not just rest and wait

Whether it's a gym strain, a weekend sport injury, or the cumulative wear of manual work — the approach that gets you back to full function fastest is rarely just rest. It's understanding what's actually been loaded, and managing it properly from the start.

Common presentations we manage

  • Acute muscle strains and ligament sprains from sport or training
  • Lower back pain from heavy lifting or deadlift mechanics
  • Shoulder and rotator cuff irritation from overhead training
  • Hip and glute pain from running or court sports
  • Knee and ankle injuries from contact sport and court sports
  • Rib and thoracic dysfunction from contact or twisting sports
  • Repetitive strain injuries from manual work and trade occupations

The assessment approach

We assess movement quality, joint mobility, and load tolerance — not just where it hurts. Understanding how the injury occurred and what biomechanical factors contributed helps determine not just how to manage the acute presentation, but how to prevent it recurring.

How we manage sports injuries

A combination of manual therapy to restore joint movement, soft tissue therapy — Active Release-style, dry needling, and Graston-style instrument assisted — for the injured tissue, and a graduated rehabilitation programme to rebuild load tolerance and return you to your activity. The rehab component is not optional — it's what prevents recurrence.

Return to sport and work

We set clear milestones. You'll know what you need to achieve before returning to full training or work, and what the timeline looks like. No vague "rest and see how it goes."
